Chengdu to Everest Base Camp Tour

Receive you at Chengdu airport and drive to your hotel in downtown. Wander around Chengdu after checking in hotel. Stay overnight in Chengdu.

Breakfast and visit Panda Breeding and Research Center. Chengdu is the major overland gateway to Tibet and home to giant pandas. After completing our visit, we will board the overnight train to Xining. Our local travel guide will escort you to the train station, and the comfortable sleeping arrangements onboard will ensure you have a restful journey.

Upon arrival in Xining, your local guide will pick you up at the railway station and take you to have a breakfast in a local restaurant to enjoy the traditional foods.

After breakfast, you will visit Ta’er Monastery (Kumbum Monastery), the birthplace of Tsongkhapa, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism. We will explore the Dongguan Mosque and explore the Muslim Quarter, which is one of the oldest mosques in the western part of China.

After the visit, you will get back and prepare for your Tibet train journey. The guide and driver will take you to the railway station for your train to Tibet. It is suggested to get to the railway station around 1 hour before departure. You need to present your passport and the Tibet Travel Permit to board the train.

Complete the lifetime Tibet train journey and welcome to Tibet. The journey is beautiful scenery with endless land of snow, vast desert, boundless grassland, snow-capped mountains, and stunning lakes will continually appear and strongly attract your heart. After arriving in Lhasa, you will receive and transfer to hotel. After settling into your hotel, take some time to rest and adjust to the high altitude. In the evening, your guide will provide travel instructions, and introduce your group members. Stay overnight in Lhasa.

Breakfast and In the morning, you’ll explore the largest monastery in Tibet-Drepung Monastery, which was once the home to over 10,000 monks. In the afternoon, you’ll head to Sera Monastery, another of the ‘great three’ Gelug monasteries of Tibet, to witness the famous Tibetan Monks Debate (15:00 – 17:00, from Monday to Saturday). After today’s tour, enjoy dinner with your group members.

Breakfast and visit Potala Palace and Longwangtan Park in the morning. In the afternoon, you will head to the heart of Tibetan religion-the Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street, where you can do kora, a religious circle of a building or mountain with pilgrims and locals, and explore the old market-Barkhor street. Stay overnight in Lhasa.

Breakfast and begin the overland journey along the Friendship Highway. The drive features stunning mountain passes, including the Gampala Pass, with views of the turquoise Yamdrok Tso lake. You will arrive in Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city, for the night.

Breakfast and continue the scenic drive, crossing the Gawula Pass for panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest. Arrive at Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world, where you can see a magnificent sunset over Everest. Stay overnight at Everest Base Camp.

Wake early to witness the sunrise over Mount Everest. Take an eco-bus or walk from Rongbuk to Everest Base Camp (North). Return to Rongbuk and begin the drive back to Shigatse via Sakya.

Breakfast and visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery-seat of Panchen Lama. This is the spiritual home of the Tibetan people in Shigatse, housing the world’s largest statue of Maitreya Buddha.Later, you’ll return to Lhasa along the Yarlung Tsangpo River. Finally, you will arrive in Lhasa. Enjoy leisure time wandering freely through Barkhor Street, where you can shop for gifts to bring back home for your family. Stay overnight in Lhasa.

Today marks the end of your Tibet tour. Please make sure to verify your departure flight details with our guide in advance. And your guide will take you to the airport to get your flight to Chengdu.
